Perspectives

During the EL forum, this panelist showed some interesting optical illusions but I can't find the exact ones. Make do with these few then! I thought they could be useful teaching resources. Not everything can be taken at face-value. Its a pity how sometimes we overlook other details when we are too caught up on 1 aspect. But sometimes having too much to look at/think about is also a problem ay? Somehow I'm thankful I can appreciate different perspectives and not being 1-track about things. It keeps me thinking....and I like it!

Wo(Man) of the hour

As I read the tribute to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, I can't help but feel this profoundly deep admiration for this immensely brilliant forefather of Singapore. I was in awe of his contributions and how his influence is so pervasive in modern Singapore, yet so few actually heard and know of his legacy. The more I read on about what people remembered of him and his long list of accolades, the more proud I am to be a Singaporean. I never knew places of interests like our zoo, bird park and even Sentosa were his ideas! These are just a tiny fraction of his contributions. My gosh....it was just an incredible discovery and I was hooked to the Saturday's Special edition on 'Remember Dr Goh Keng Swee'. Strangely, my heart was pounding as I read and later reflected on this titan's life. Instinctively, a question came to mind i.e. will there be another titan like Dr Goh, Mr Lee KY, Mr Wee Kim Wee or the other members of the Old Guard in my generation? Will I get to see one em

Remembering Us

Remembering us being carefree, being the greenhorns and just trying to stick around for as long as we could. We did. For almost 3 years! But not as carefree as before. I remember 3 years ago, at the 4th floor (where we seemed to rule the place!) we were often gawffing away, talking as though everyone is deaf and taking goofy shots with Sim Sim's newly purchased Macbook. Then we called ourselves "Golden Girls". Now we are the "Wonder Girls"! My special friend and ex-colleague. My fellow 'bouncer' of ideas for English lessons! I was glad that we had each other throughout the time we were in PHSS. Sometimes God brings the weirdest person into our lives to just give meaning to why we are placed where we are. Its crazy but its true. But I am thankful that our friendship extended beyond the walls of school! 3 years on. The Golden Girls are down to 2. It feels different without Sim Sim around. She told me it was very tough on her when I went off for my NIE trai

Wedding Collection

I am not getting married (anytime soon) and this collection is about the different dresses I'm sourcing for the 5 weddings in the later half of this year. Since I am only helping out for Queen's wedding in July, I will just need to get 1 gorgeous one. For the rest, I shall make do with whatever I can find in my humble wardrobe. At most, make a trip to Joani's place and ransack both her sister's and her collection! Last night, I started my mission with Joani as my consultant. I scoured various sites and scanned the numerous kinds of dresses and I am proud to say I found 2 designs that are quite desirable. On J's recommendation, get the designs and show it to her tailor-ess. I like the idea since it will almost be mission impossible to find a dress I like off the shelves, especially when I really need them! Proven and tested. Alright design #1: Halter neck design with ruffles at the neckline. The empire-waist design does seem to help enlongate one's lower body, w

Swooning over the Men

Yesterday was the last day of my TP2 and I went to catch the latest men (in town) in action! Perfect closure to the hectic period where I can sit and enjoy without worrying about the tons of things awaiting me to clear. In any case, after watching the 2 men, you will not be able to think about other things! Ha....at least it was the case for me. Now I am still in the post-Robertie & Donnie state. Honestly, Ironman 2 was not all that fantastic. True to what my friends said. Nonetheless I wanted to watch it for myself to give the final verdict. I felt Ironman 1 had more punch and No.2 seemed to pale in comparison. However, the show was saved by the cast and somewhat witty lines interjected here and there throughout the 124mins. Plot was sadly weak, but it is usually the case for most action-packed movies like Transformers. But Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson did make the movie more memorable! One cannot be too critical when there are hot dudes and babes to talk about. I canno

Little Dawn Dawn

My favourite little kiddo! She is such a sunshine and darling. She never fails to bring a smile to my face and I simply love her to bits! Very mild-mannered but a strong-headed little gal. Don't play play with her! She knows her right from wrong. Give it to her parents man! Sometimes seeing her makes me want to have my own kids but when I go back to school and have to face the bigger version of her (and not so cute ones) in 100s, I shudder and just for a moment, thankful that I'm still single! Ha OK....my little favourite person has an entry dedicated to her alone. Lovely.

Season of winding down

Can you believe it? The 10-weeks practicum is over and done with. I'm speechless (as always) as to how time flies. But tis the season to relax and wind down....unfortunately the sickening weather doesn't allow me to 'chill'!!!! Its so HOT , HOT, HOT! When will the rain come again??? I miss you! Being the last week in school before I return to NIE for a month, I finally got the chance to really take a breather, not having to worry about planning my lessons and reflections (tho it is quite overdue but heck!). So I managed to fit in a movie with Joani ( Prince of Tears), luncheon with grandpop and aunt @ Double Bay, dinner with some girls and a movie marathon cum Jap dinner with my colleagues! All within this week. Sure making up for lost time. But I am not complaining! I am now also able to update my bloggie and display some pics (taken from my Little Blueberry) of recent days. Still getting used to using the phone for picture-taking so pardon the not-so-nice shots. T
