A Few Of My Favourites

1 week was it but I returned with almost 500 pictures. I think I could have taken more. Ha! But as with my favourite mantra goes : its not the quantity, its the quality. With that, I thought of putting up a few of my favourite shots of the people & moments I cherished during the short 1 week stay in Cambodia. Well pictures are in no order of preference or merit. (1) Ravi & Mummy Ruth. Mummy Ruth, the founder of Love In Action (LIA, and still going strong for Jesus at her age. Truly and inspiration for us youngsters who always are passionate for alot of things. She showed me what it means to be truly passionate for what God has put in one's heart. (2) Time spent with Anais It was a solid 1 week spent with a dear friend, whom strangely became one of my closer peers in church. As much as she publicizes about my amusing her, I too have been greatly amused by her antics. Let her explain herself when she returns. (3) Som Oun & Kim Soun Previously when they visited Singa

What A Sight

At the Municipal Dump Site Unforgettable sight. Unforgettable smell. My first time to the garbage slum & the whiff of garbage gave me a warm welcome as the tuk tuk drove through the area. I gave myself abit of mental preparation of what I will see but it was still not enough. My tummy almost flipped as I took in more of the smell. Thankfully, as we drove further up, the 'aroma' was overpowered by the burnt smell from burning of the garbage. Along the way I saw this mobile food stall & I'm thinking how on earth can anyone eat admist the garbage??? But the people who stay there have no qualms. I just cannot come to terms with the fact that such an area is home to both young and old. A tinge of anger came over me there and then. Tons of money can be spend on renovating & building of temples (with real solid gold) but there are so many Cambodians who are left in the dumps. Where's the justice, I asked God. 2 youths followed us this morning; Ravi & Boon Tong

Perspective

Sitting down in front of the computer and listening to 'All The Earth' for the 10th time. Its Anais's off day and we have been trying to upload our pictures onto Facebook. I've got my Day 1 up but poor Ana, still trying to get hers up! Have been in Cambodia for 5 days and returning to Singapore on thursday. Previously, time seem to snail by but as I browsed through the pictures taken of the past few days, I realised that its not that slow after all. Coming to Cambodia this time was different. Was supposed to lead a team to LIA but ended up not because of lack of preparation time and inadequate response. Anyhow, I just felt I should make a personal trip up to see for myself the work at LIA and sense what God is doing in this land. Prior to the trip, I've been reading about Cambodia's news and they just appear everyday in the papers. Well it can't be more clear than this so I went. Followed Anais as she goes to and fro the b oys' & girls' home to t

Chosen

JYC CAMP 2009 - CATS & DOGS " But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light. Once you were not a people, but now you are the people of God; once you had not received mercy, but now you have received mercy." - 1 Peter 2:9-10

The End of May

My 31st May came to an end with quite a bang having successfully completed the Sundown Marathon in about 6.5hours! Wooopie! Not exactly the timing I was aiming for (6hrs) but having considered my kind of training and my right battered knee, it was a race well run! This marathon would be my swan song (for now). Having ran 5 marathons, I am already quite satisfied. I'll still be going for my biathlons and possibly triathlons and who knows, the Ironman one fine day! Another addition to my proud collection of marathon tees and medals! The morning concluded well with a superb exercise! Thinking of the fats that were burnt from the run brings a smile to my face! After attempting to sleep for about an hour or so, I headed off for Yonghui's wedding in my new little black dress (more info on that in the next blog) and trying not to walk in an unglam manner given the soreness in the legs and abrasions in unmentionable places! It was a nice get-together with my Pei Hwa colleagues once ag
