Sweet!

Grace shouts : "I LOVE GRANDPOP!" Grandpop thinks : "She's my favourite grand-kid"

And there was light

Right before my very eyes, the rays of light from the setting sun that is hidden by the looming dark clouds. When the dark clouds disappeared, all that's left is the blinding light that literally pierced through the darkness.

A Lil' Piece of Red

Ang Ang Ang.... Those few red clouds that stood out admist the backdrop of a dark piece of sky caught my attention and zipped I went to collect my trusty camera. I relish moments such as this; in a relaxed mode and being able to enjoy the beauty that is around me. I've taken a few shots from my living room (same spot in fact) but somehow, its never the same. Another red news. I finally bought my sports sunglass. I have been using my first pair of Oakley's and am still loving it. But somehow, I needed to find another pair that completes the cyclist cum triathlete cum sporty PE teacher package. Who says PE teacher cannot look good? This time round, I found THE ONE from Rudy Project. Quite an unheard of brand but nonetheless its quality is on a par with that of Oakleys. I trust my judgement and taste. Thanks to MOE's LDS, I purchased it the moment I caught sight of it at humble Jurong Point. No turning back. I wore it on Saturday for my weekly cycling training and I felt d

Time to reverse 'narcissisim epidemic' (The Sunday Times, January 17 2010) I cannot agree more with wat LWL wrote in this article. That our young people are plagued with the 'narcissism epidemic' that is fast spreading like cancer; infiltrating into every aspects of their lives. I see it being so prevalent in today's culture. On the bus, in the train, and even just walking along the streets. The oblivion, our young wear on their faces, towards people or matters that require attention is startlingly painful. How is it that one can still comfortably sit (in the 'reserved' zone in trains) with a preggie woman or elderly in front of him/her and pretend to be sleeping??? Won't their conscience be pricked? This is just 1 of the many examples I can cite. What exactly is the root of this social problem? Parenting? Education? There is no one main cause if you ask me. Its just many factors culminating into the pattern of living we see in our young today. But some

Random

Sitting on the comfy couch in NIE library and enjoying the flashbacks of those days when Addie, Joani & me would ever so frequently hung out at the cafe, talking the time away. Very soon, I'll be leaving this forbidden island for the real world and no more of such relaxing moments. Talking about cafe, the aroma of mocha and sights of the delectable cakes are making me hungry despite the 1hr lunch @ Kushinbo with the usual suspects. I know it when my exercise intensity has increased; when I get hungry more frequently. So should I get a coffee or cake??? Decisions, decisions.... Had to think of something to do to spend the long break I have before hockey lesson at 5.30pm. Bummer. When all my friends are done and heading off, I'm waiting for my lesson to start. Well well. But I had a real work-out playing tennis this morning and I love it! Ok so...to not waste time, I decided to embark on researching for my hockey assignment, which I did by going to search for books. It sure d

Work Out

Never have I had such a relaxing semester. Finally I get 1 free day with the rest of the week having a maximum of 3 hrs- lessons each day. SHIOK. No further complaints other than hockey lessons at 5.30-7.30pm. In 1 word, this week has been 'SPORTY'. Mon - 30mins jog, 2hrs hockey, 1hr fitess & conditioning Tues - 1hr of F&C (pacing) & 2hrs hockey Wed - 10 to 12km morning run Thurs - 1hr F&C Fri - 10 to 12km morning run & 2hrs hockey Sat - 1.5hrs of cycling. Off to a trimming start, if I continue to keep up with such a routine. Well, its a good thing since I'm training for my first triathlon in april. Excited! On the topic of the triathlon, I've been pondering about investing in a proper attire. But first on my list is a sports sunnies. Been checking out a few but they're all ultra pricey. Definitely not within my budget for now. Hoping for a miracle. With all these "good to have" items in mind, its making it hard to save up! But I will!!

Save the best for the last

My 2 months break is about to come to an end. Starting the new NIE term on Monday and I won't have the luxury of having 2 solid months of holidays for a long time to come. So gotta make the best out of it! After all as the maxim goes : SAVE THE BEST FOR THE LAST. This week has been nothing but packed! Almost every single day & night I'll be occupied; mostly meeting up with friends and now I'm suffering from indigestion as a result. BURrrrrrrp. Alright let's do a recap on how the week went. Monday : Badminton IHG against Hall 13 (won and on to meet Hall 4 on Wed) Tuesday : 1st of Johor Bahru Exploration with Liling & Yi Yi. 3 single ladies armed with wit, guts and an adventurous spirit went about exploration of JB on our own. Despite stories about how JB is unsafe with roaming pickpockets etc, it turned out to be quite a pleasant experience for us. We met friendly taxi-drivers, security guards and passers-by, all of whom were not at all threats to our safety in a

For the new year, I thought I will start putting up some of the noteworthy articles by Lee Wee Ling, who writes a column in the Sunday Times every forthnight. I particularly like reading what she writes because it has a tinge of human-ness, realness and its true to the heart. I like. Well I won't copy-and-paste the entire article as I don't want to be thrown in jail for outright plagarism. Just selecting some of the key points that struck a chord in me. Good things must share. Here's the first one of 2010: " The true nature of friendship" 君 子 之 交 淡 如 水,小 人 之 交 甜 如 密。 In her words, the direct translation is this: "The friendship between two honorable people is as understated as water. The "friendship" between two petty people, on the otherhand, is as cloying as honey. The simple analogy for this saying is as follows: between honourable friends, there is no account of how many favours I owe that friend and vice versa. The relationship between petty pe

The Young One

Needs no further introduction! When I managed to find my little shoes of yester-years (courtesy of grandpop), I will put it up! A pity all my pretty dresses with matching shoes are nowhere to be found already. Boooooo...maybe the karang guni brought it to the National Musuem to be archived???? A light-hearted post to mark a new year!
