A Few Of My Favourites

1 week was it but I returned with almost 500 pictures. I think I could have taken more. Ha! But as with my favourite mantra goes : its not the quantity, its the quality. With that, I thought of putting up a few of my favourite shots of the people & moments I cherished during the short 1 week stay in Cambodia. Well pictures are in no order of preference or merit.

(1) Ravi & Mummy Ruth.
Mummy Ruth, the founder of Love In Action (LIA, and still going strong for Jesus at her age. Truly and inspiration for us youngsters who always are passionate for alot of things. She showed me what it means to be truly passionate for what God has put in one's heart.

(2) Time spent with Anais

It was a solid 1 week spent with a dear friend, whom strangely became one of my closer peers in church. As much as she publicizes about my amusing her, I too have been greatly amused by her antics. Let her explain herself when she returns.

(3) Som Oun & Kim Soun
Previously when they visited Singapore 4-5 years back, I didn't get a chance to really know them. I'm glad I got to this time. And was I blessed to have known them. I treasured their company and most of all, their testimonies. Hearing Som Oun's testimony is one of the highlights of my trip. New perspective to being a young adult, who is called to be a salt & light to the world.
Alright, let's take a short commercial break from humans. I met a few 'friends' whom I kinda love to irritate. Ok it was mutual! :)

(4) Snuckerpout aka 'Moni Pout Pout'

I don't care. I'm going to call it Moni Pout Pout! Well it responded whenever I gave it a new name, because I seriously could not catch its name despite Anais's countless attempts! Well, dear MPP dearly guarded the door, occasionally peeing & pooping near the stairs and forever barking at the top of its shriek voice. Its not inside the house because it can't get along with Muffy. Who's that??

(5) Muffy - The Fat Cat at her usual pose.

I thought Audrey's fatty bom bom was it. Until I met Muffy who was as fat! Gosh. I suppose loneliness is the main factor why she's this size. She enjoyed trailing Ana & myself but I would resist her affections. Sorry but I hate the feeling of my feet being licked and pawed at! She loves having one of us see her eating! Attention seeking! Again - LONELINESS. I hope Anais doesn't take after Muffy in this aspect!

Commercial break ended.

(6) Chicken Rice Banquet

The final product of our 4 hours of hard work. From thawing the 16kg chicken parts to scrappint the charred pot from cooking 10kg of rice and finally to seeing how the kids relished the food, they were moments I will never forget. Think Anais and myself gained some biceps muscles from all that work! Waterloo Chicken Rice stall should consider hiring us as helpers!

It was worthwhile as I saw how the kids enjoyed themselves tremendously. It may be something I get to eat everyday back home (at the risk of a heart attack) but a treat for them, which may just very well be a once in a blue moon thing.

(7) Babies Psad and Joshua

These tiny tots brought me much joy. Their cuteness is unfathomable. Anais told me she has this urge to adopt Joshua. Now I know what she means. If kidnapping is not a crime, I think both of them long gone taken away already! Ha...

(8) Issac

This is another treasure I discovered in cambodia. Even Mummy Ruth is constantly amazed at his moves. For one, he pounces on Muffy, which seems terrified of the mere mention of his name! Can you believe it???? This bright little fellow has an amazing sense of curiousity of what's around him. God-given. May he discover and be awed by what the Father has install for him in the years to come.

(9) 26th Birthday Celebration with the kids

A privileged moment that I could share with the kids. Supposedly a surprise by Anais & Ravi but the latter gave it away by a slip of her tongue. I wisely chose to pretend to not hear :) A cool birthday gift, which I would not trade for anything else.

(10) Hock & Go Hom

Ok...these kids have names that bemused me. Especially when we foreigners try to pronounce them. Go Hom (pronounced as 'go home' literally). Hockie is a dear little skinny chap, whom I set my eyes on to know from a picture I saw of him in the house. Most immediately upon meeting him, we connected. I miss his sudden jumping & hugging moves. There's something about Hock and I can't really describe it properly. But his spirit is that of a giant. Watch him!

Alright the top ten hits are up. Hope you enjoy them as much as I've enjoyed talking about them.

Wo(Man) of the hour

As I read the tribute to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, I can't help but feel this profoundly deep admiration for this immensely brilliant forefather of Singapore. I was in awe of his contributions and how his influence is so pervasive in modern Singapore, yet so few actually heard and know of his legacy. The more I read on about what people remembered of him and his long list of accolades, the more proud I am to be a Singaporean. I never knew places of interests like our zoo, bird park and even Sentosa were his ideas! These are just a tiny fraction of his contributions. My gosh....it was just an incredible discovery and I was hooked to the Saturday's Special edition on 'Remember Dr Goh Keng Swee'. Strangely, my heart was pounding as I read and later reflected on this titan's life. Instinctively, a question came to mind i.e. will there be another titan like Dr Goh, Mr Lee KY, Mr Wee Kim Wee or the other members of the Old Guard in my generation? Will I get to see one em...

SHAKING OFF THE DUST

Its been a long hiatus :) So many things have taken place and so many reflections to document but the inertia to do it was just to great to resist. Anyhow, decided to take some time during this break to start the 'blogging engine' going again. Hopefully, it revives my hope and wish to keep this site alive.  Just had the annual ODAC camp @ Ubin and while trekking around the island with the kiddies yesterday, I chanced upon this little grasshopper at the Sensory Trail. I managed to get up close and personal for this shot, which was taken with my new iPhone 7 ahem. Image was sharp and it looked great!  And the verse that came to mind was: "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?....Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matthew 6: 26-34 In my rest...

PSALM 121

I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel, will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Many a times, man fails to keep his promise but God never. He makes a promise and we can be so sure He will keep it forever and ever. Man may fail but He nevers. Sometimes, we may wonder if God is really doing the right thing for us but I know one thing - trusting Him is the only thing that can never go wrong :)
