All In A Week's

The week went by not without a fruitful day. It was either time well-spent with family, friends or myself. Realised that it is really up to the individual to make the best of each day that comes. You either be nua-ing the whole day and wasting 24hrs or purposefully making each second count. I chose the latter.

Brief Recount

1. 1st All-Girls Outing (with Liling & Yixin)

Location : Little India
Highlight(s):

- 1st time doing manicure/pedicure/threading

- Sporty gals getting in touch with their feminine side. We're not just all brawns (& brains) but beauty too!

Jothi's Traditional Charm
- had a very Balinese touch to the layout of the shop

Liling's finished product!

2. Class Outing

Location : Brewerks (Kallang) & Kallang Leisure Bowl

Highlight(s):

- A few met up earlier to makan at Brewerks and we had feast, courtesy of Mr Renhan who always makes sure that there's more than enough to go around!

- bowling session didn't start till 3pm and we were all tired out by 4 plus :) Still it was a fun time of throwing the balls into the gutter (not all were that lousy!)

- a greater turn out as compared to previous outings. NICE!

3. NAPFA Test Help Out

Location : Ju Ying Sec

- A kind of class outing where majority turned up for once :)

4. Lunch with YeYe & Mama

Location : Suntec City's Porridge Buffet

Highlight(s) :

- My gramp's favourite place; esp YeYe who loves the duck

-Good to see them being able to eat heartily and enjoying their time with grand-kids.

5. Ministry Leaders' Retreat (the Easter Hol)

Location : Kum Yan

Highlight(s) :

- A siginificant time of closing ranks and seeking God for His blue-print for the next decade

- Celebrating His faithfulness & goodness that will always be our covering

- Witnessing of the baptism & confirmation of individuals. Always a special and significant moment as it marks a milestone in their lives

6. Date with Jo

Location : Oomphatico's @ Tanglin Mall

Highlight(s) :

- Outing before Jo leaves for the Philippines again; getting harder to meet up since she's perpetually working! So much for work-life balance!!!!

- Wanted to check Spruce out but could not locate the place at all!!!

- Not sure if it was a blessing in disguise but we chanced upon Oomphatico

- Turned out to be a memorable dining experience with pretty ambience and delicious food and dessert.

The unforgettable 'The rich chocolate dish' for dessert.

- Was still disappointed about not finding Spruce but contended with the Oomp!

7. Overnight Cycling

Location : Whole of Eastern Singapore (almost)

Highlight(s) :

- A total distance of 50km was covered by the Garang 5

- The entire route was supposed to be 42km but due to human errors, extra was made during our detours and crossing of sickening traffic junctions that were still under construction!

The entire route covered

- We were left with sore butts & legs but we're still 'gian' for more of such adventures!

8. Japanese Buffet Dinner

Location : Irodori @ River View Hotel

Highlight(s) :

- Ala carte buffet style; portion of dishes was small, enticing customers to just keep ordering. Smart tactic esp with Singaporeans! it costs $33++ per pax but we paid $40 each inclusive of the drinks we ordered

- A time of bonding with the gals (Lynn, Jo Chan, Jas Sia & Queen)

- Good food & fabulous company for the night. Perfect reward after the gruelling 50km cycling feat!

- The stars of the night was of course the food that came one after another...who said gals can't eat!

Check out the Top 9 contestants!

No.1 : Appetizer of salmon sashimi with green tofu.

Marinated with some kind of sauce that really worked the appetite!

No. 2 Mix Sashimi Platter

- fresh serving of salmon, tuna, swordfish, octopus, cuttlefish, yellow-tail

No. 3 King's Prawns with a special dressing over it. Succulent.

No. 4 Pregnant Fish coated with a crispy batter.

1 bite and the roe just burst inside your mouth!

No. 5 Beef roll with enoki mushroom. Good quality cut of the beef.

No. 6 Ebi & Shitake Tempura. The mushroom was huge and juicy!

No.7 Grilled mackeral

- didn't eat it but feedback was that it had alot of bones

No. 8 Teapot soup. The lime added a zesty feel to it.

No. 9 Grilled salmon steak. Didn't eat it again but looks tender.

Ordered it twice so there's something about this

The overall report for the week is EXCELLENT! Definitely looking forward to the rest of the holiday that I'll be enjoying while my other peers will be working their butts away! The next highlight would be the sailing and windsurfing courses I'll be attending. Can't wait!

Till then, its preparation for the exams on the 22nd & 27th April. And nope, I haven't started revision 1 bit. Coming Soonnnnnnnn.........

Universal Studio

Thanks to YOG I got to enter Universal Studios @ Resorts World Sentosa ytd for free! Yes...rides were free and I had a $10 food & beverage voucher. Ok....sometimes I'm grateful that I'm a teacher because we are really one of the few professions who will enjoy such privileges :) Introducing the bevy of gorgeous ladies of Pei Hwa Sec : Miss Grace Tan, Miss Sophia Tan, Miss Shirley Tan and Miss Roslinda ! Don't you love the donkey ears???!!! WE WERE SERIOUSLY AMUSING OURSELVES IN THE SOUVENIR SHOP! Alright...this is the first but not my last time visiting U.S.S because I'll be going there again in Nov for my dept's learning journey. Don't ask me how we are going to think up PE lessons from visiting the theme park but miracles do happen! So after loosening the leash around the 51 kids whom we accompanied yesterday evening, the 6 female teachers (where are all the men??? tsk tsk...) went about to have a wild time of feasting on 20" pizzas, running after cart...

SHAKING OFF THE DUST

Its been a long hiatus :) So many things have taken place and so many reflections to document but the inertia to do it was just to great to resist. Anyhow, decided to take some time during this break to start the 'blogging engine' going again. Hopefully, it revives my hope and wish to keep this site alive.  Just had the annual ODAC camp @ Ubin and while trekking around the island with the kiddies yesterday, I chanced upon this little grasshopper at the Sensory Trail. I managed to get up close and personal for this shot, which was taken with my new iPhone 7 ahem. Image was sharp and it looked great!  And the verse that came to mind was: "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?....Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matthew 6: 26-34 In my rest...

Count your blessings

I bought this set of keychain for my gramps. So cute right? They both love it to bits man! Haha..I'm proud of myself. A wise person said this to me this morning: "when you count your blessings, you will find many things to be thankful for...". True true. Been rather short fused these days and especially with family members. My grandma bore the brunt of it on monday when she suddenly appeared at NCC with my grandpa. I wasn't expecting her and so when I saw her, I was quite mean to ask why she was there when I actually know her intentions. I felt the way I felt because firstly I was already bothered about how to take care of grandpop when he sighs and worries about his discomfort and blah and then grandmop comes along and be herself (complain complain and ask same questions 1001 times etc). Double whammy! Anyway in a nutshell, the wise person told me early in the morning that grandmop upset that I brushed her aside that day, which I know was baddie bad bad :( ok i will...
