At the train station (Hanoi); all ready to set off.
Btw, I love my t-shirt; see the bright yellow star!
We were so glad to have left our 'little container' and head off to the Summit Hotel, where we stayed at Sapa. What a world of difference compared to the train ride. Arghhhhh...
The early morning mist was what greeted us during our 2 days there. Air was cold and crisp; surroundings totally fogged up. Yes...it was also freezing cold till the sun made its appearance.
Can you tell how hungry we were? The bowl of noodle soup saved the morning but it was not piping hot! Anyhow, these guys finished off every single drop of the soup. Ravenous
Started on our approximately 5-6km trek to Cat Cat Village. As we walked, I saw many beautiful faces and needless to say, the scenery. Let the pictures do the talking.
We each had a local who followed us closely! My friendly bodyguard who was kind enough to not hound me to buy her products unlike some other local guides. Persistent!
What you see is just the tip of the iceberg. All the faces I've seen each tell a story and its really awesome when you are able to see how each of these unique individual's lives weave together to paint a beautiful picture through their culture and lifestyles.
Part 2 of Sapa journey will be up next. Highlights of the 10km trek! Coolios!
