AUGUST BAGUS!

I know I have disappeared momentarily from the blogging world but ...NO EXCUSE...just plain lazy! :) In any case, it's now August; more than half the year is gone. Down to 4 more months of 2012!

2 years of teaching have gone by...just like that. Wheeeee....

Well much have happened since May and honestly, I cannot depend on my memory these days to remember events of 3 months ago. So it shall just be about August!

MAJULAH SINGAPURA!
LOVING SINGAPORE, OUR HOME.

I do not see myself as a patriot but I won't deny if I am asked if I love Singapore. I LOVE SINGAPORE! Truly.

Sure, there are the not so beautiful aspects but at the end of the day, I don't see myself being rooted anywhere else, at least for now.

This year I am so thankful to be able to get a free ticket from Buddy Kevin to watch the NDP live. I tried balloting but to no avail and I was resigned to just watching it over the television. Then the pleasant surprise came few days before the 9th of August. God knows my heart's desires through and through.

From the goodie bags to the parade, performances and of course the fireworks, every single moment was just awesome! Unforgettably beautiful - the sights, sounds and atmosphere.

OLYMPICS 2012

4 years ago I was watching the Olympics in NTU hostel. 4 years on, I have to try to catch it at night as I am in school during the day. Olympics have changed my lifestyle for that 2 weeks as I managed to stay up later to catch some of the events live. Well, I go school the next day with swollen eyes and tiredness written all over my face but it is all worthwhile! Come on, it is only in every 4 years that I get to watch muscular men (eye-candy as well) doing their dives and gymnastic moves and of course my favorite - synchronized swimming. Sacrificing that bit of zzz ...I am more than willing!

Now that Olympics is over, I feel kinda lost and the pace of my everyday activities seemed to have slowed down quite a bit. RIO 2016...quick come!!!

STACE'S HEN NIGHT

Wedding bells about to ring again.

I was surprised to have been invited for the Hen's party as I would not consider myself to be very close to the bride but over the last year or so, we got to spend a bit more time together and through our sharing of life and straight talks, we kinda forged a closer friendship, which I am very thankful for.

Celebrating with her the beginning of a new journey with a whole lot of beautiful ladies who love her and will walk with her till the end.

Wo(Man) of the hour

As I read the tribute to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, I can't help but feel this profoundly deep admiration for this immensely brilliant forefather of Singapore. I was in awe of his contributions and how his influence is so pervasive in modern Singapore, yet so few actually heard and know of his legacy. The more I read on about what people remembered of him and his long list of accolades, the more proud I am to be a Singaporean. I never knew places of interests like our zoo, bird park and even Sentosa were his ideas! These are just a tiny fraction of his contributions. My gosh....it was just an incredible discovery and I was hooked to the Saturday's Special edition on 'Remember Dr Goh Keng Swee'. Strangely, my heart was pounding as I read and later reflected on this titan's life. Instinctively, a question came to mind i.e. will there be another titan like Dr Goh, Mr Lee KY, Mr Wee Kim Wee or the other members of the Old Guard in my generation? Will I get to see one em...

Day 3 & 4 - Halong Bay

HALONG BAY Cat Ba Island (2 days, 1 night) After 1 day of exploration of Hanoi city, we headed for Halong Bay via the junkboat. Our destination was on Cat Ba Island where we stayed for the night. It was also there that we ventured onto 'Monkey' Island - not to be deceived; there was only 4 monkeys sighted. The exhilirating part of this journey was the motorbike ride to the ferry terminal to board the boat to 'Monkey' Island. Felt like I was part of a short scene of a James Bond movie (pillion with Pierce Brosnan!). Will never forget the cold draft blowing against my face and just riding up and down the slopes! Cat Ba Island is a very quiet & tranquail place. Little activity especially at night. Wanted to catch the morning activities at the fishing wharf opposite our hotel but could not wake up in time. Nonetheless, managed to capture some snippets of what goes on at the bay. Waiting patiently to board the boat. Snapped this on board the boat. Not a vietnamese but fe...

Worthy 2 Quote

" There's no higher than The Most High." - Uncle Ed Pousson " Walking right doesn't make God-lovers. Walking right just makes it easier for Him to bless and use you." - Uncle Ross Patterson. 2 powered statements from 2 power servants of God in 2 power weeks. What more can I say? Let my words be few then.
