Managed to find time and an available internet spot where I can just do a short blog so here I am :)
Finally am in vietnam after much anticipation. Could not believe that I was actually about to start my 2 weeks of backpacking in vietnam and cambodia but its happening and I feel as though I've been here for almost a week when its just Day 2. Loving every moment of it.
At my 1st pit-stop (Hanoi) and will be heading for Halong Bay and Sapa in the next few days. Was supposed to be at Halong Bay today but did not manage to book the package in time so we had to postpone it by a day but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. We had time this morning to just roam the streets and we ended up at Sinh Cafe where we booked our packages to Halong and Sapa plus accomodation for the night, which was way cheaper than our hotel last night. Had a good feel about Sinh and so we established our deal with them! Cannot wait to step foot on Halong Bay & Sapa.
The meals we are having thus far way surpassed my expectations. Breakkie this morning @ Anam Cafe was fantabulous. Had my first taste of autentically prepared vietnamese coffee which was super rich! Lunch was a buffet spread of nothing but real vietnamese delicacies at a ridiculously reasonable price of $13 per pax. I was glad to have found my vietnamese spring roll and was whacking it together with the salad. Because we had only 40mins to the end of the buffet, we had to act fast and we also grabbed as much dessert as we could. Interesting items like the dragonfruit jelly (looks like konnyakuu), sweet corn paste, yam paste, pulut hitm (viet version) are just a few to mention. I was stuffed but simply satisfied. We then proceeded to walk along the streets of Aun Co where I chanced about many intricately designed architectures and I'm amazed at the different designs of every building that I walked past.
To end off the walk, we treated ourselves to an hour of massage and it was shiokus! Quite similar to thai massage though.
Felt very accomplished today. Not a single moment was unfruitful. From our morning walk after brekkie to our shopping bonanza in the evening, I had lots of fun. Besides just appreciating and enjoying the culture and atmosphere in Hanoi, I'm also getting to know my fellow teamos better and I will blog about some of the hilarious moments we had. Pictures also akan datang (because the computer is a snail!).
Lots to more say but because someone irritating is rushing me so bye bye for now!
Peace out :)
More of the adventures to be reported!
