SWEET SWEET FREEDOM!

At long last...this week is over!
The bulk of my assignments is done and submitted and I'M JUST SO RELIEVED AND HAPPY. Finally I can breathe and not awake every morning having to think of what else to do for my assignments. Brain torture! Hair-whitening and dropping experience.

Today after submitting my POG assignment (the bane of my week!) and completing the podcast...I zipped out of school! My friend was commenting I'm like this jailbird that got released! Ha..spot on description! I am going to so enjoy my weekend and make up for the last 2 weeks of hard work and being cooped up in school to mull over the assignments! I still have assignments for the next few weeks but nah...not going to fret over them coz they are more managable and AT THIS MOMENT....assignments are non-existent on my list of important things to do! Hahahaha.........there's a time for everything and its time to R & R!
I had the impulse to call Sim Sim while in school to arrange a date tonight as I was freed up alr. She was down with flu but she still came to meet me. Love her to bits! :)
What happening things did we do?????
1) Met to go to Mortons to drink Martini (used to be $10 but now $11.95) and enjoy the free renowned beef steak sandwich. A tad bit too salty today but still got standard. Errr silly me drank my Appletini without food (before the sandwiches arrived) and think too fast also...blood rush after I left the place and felt faint. Sim Sim thought I was going to puke and collapsed! Haha...learnt my lesson! EAT BEFORE DRINK!
2) Went down to Orchard to meet Victoria and that's when I got to know another fellow NIE-mate : Jan. We hit it off well; talked, laughed and joked as though we are old friends. So amazing! I am beginning to think that I'm quite an easy-to-get-along person. So far..the new friends I made don't feel as though they are 'new'!!!! My hidden talent :) :)
Audrey and Victoria - looking quite similar and doing the exact same pose!
Vic is so hilarious and candid. Talks like a machine gun and at a speed of 300km/h!
Jan and self - PGDE Pri Trainee Teacher.
Very sweet gal. Easy to get along with too!
3) Head for dinner at NYDC. Sim Sim initially wanted something 'light' coz her tummy was in royal rumble but errrrr...she suggested NYDC of all places! So that's where we ended up (Wheelocks). Gosh...disappointed by the standard of the food and especially the mudpie. First and last time I will ever patronise this outlet. Suntec's branch still the best! I wanted so badly to enjoy the big big mudpie but it turned out to be so tiny. Bleah! Only spoiler of an otherwise wonderful night!
4) After a not so satisfactory dinner, we went to Starbucks Coffee. I didn't drink any coz I was quite stuffed by then. Anyhow, we sat down to just chill and chat. Laughed a whole lot and yes...teachers being teachers, we ended up talking really passionately about the thing that is always closest to our hearts - THE STATE OF EDUCATION!!!!! Sigh....we sat down for almost 1 and a half hours just talking, lamenting and lamenting ...it never ends. The story continues when we next meet..... :)
Then we went our separate ways for home.
I am glad that I survived the week and what a better way to reward myself by meeting with friends over drinks and a meal and just catching up with one another. The best thing being I don't have to rush to go home to do work! Hehe...splendid!
After slogging hard, its time to just chill and rest my battered mind, eyes and body. N yes to catch up on my beauty sleep. I have been told my dark rings are getting darker and my tiredness is apparent on my face! ARGHHHHHHH....no no no...GRACE SHALL BE RECHARGED AND REFRESHED OVER THIS WEEKEND!
For now...I'm taking in every bit of this sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet freedom!!!!!! YIPPPEEEEEEEEEEEE

Wo(Man) of the hour

As I read the tribute to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, I can't help but feel this profoundly deep admiration for this immensely brilliant forefather of Singapore. I was in awe of his contributions and how his influence is so pervasive in modern Singapore, yet so few actually heard and know of his legacy. The more I read on about what people remembered of him and his long list of accolades, the more proud I am to be a Singaporean. I never knew places of interests like our zoo, bird park and even Sentosa were his ideas! These are just a tiny fraction of his contributions. My gosh....it was just an incredible discovery and I was hooked to the Saturday's Special edition on 'Remember Dr Goh Keng Swee'. Strangely, my heart was pounding as I read and later reflected on this titan's life. Instinctively, a question came to mind i.e. will there be another titan like Dr Goh, Mr Lee KY, Mr Wee Kim Wee or the other members of the Old Guard in my generation? Will I get to see one em...

SHAKING OFF THE DUST

Its been a long hiatus :) So many things have taken place and so many reflections to document but the inertia to do it was just to great to resist. Anyhow, decided to take some time during this break to start the 'blogging engine' going again. Hopefully, it revives my hope and wish to keep this site alive.  Just had the annual ODAC camp @ Ubin and while trekking around the island with the kiddies yesterday, I chanced upon this little grasshopper at the Sensory Trail. I managed to get up close and personal for this shot, which was taken with my new iPhone 7 ahem. Image was sharp and it looked great!  And the verse that came to mind was: "Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your Heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they?....Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble." - Matthew 6: 26-34 In my rest...

PSALM 121

I lift my eyes to the hills - where does my help come from? My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth. He will not let your foot slip - he who watches over you will not slumber; indeed, he who watches over Israel, will neither slumber nor sleep. The Lord watches over you - the Lord is your shade at your right hand; the sun will not harm you by day, nor the moon by night. The Lord will keep you from all harm - he will watch over your life; The Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Many a times, man fails to keep his promise but God never. He makes a promise and we can be so sure He will keep it forever and ever. Man may fail but He nevers. Sometimes, we may wonder if God is really doing the right thing for us but I know one thing - trusting Him is the only thing that can never go wrong :)
