Batam Getaway

What a trip!

9 of us set off for a 3days, 2night getaway to Batam and it turned out to be a blast. It was our first ever attempt at organizing a class getaway and even though 9 responded this time round, I still felt that this trip was a quality one. At the end of the day its not about the numbers but rather the quality of the company and friendship we get through it all.

We each spent about $300 for the trip but considering the fun we had, the food we indulged in and the adventures we splurged on, the cost was reasonably reasonable! Here's a breakdown of what we did during the trip:

1. Adventure package of:

- parasailing
- jet-skiiing
- banana boating

2. Seafood dinner (2 nights)

- black pepper and steamed crabs

- nestum prawn

- garlic fried chicken

3. Cable Skiing (8hours - abt $40)

4. KTVing (1hr)

Personally, it was a cool time. Just being able to go on a short getaway and do some of the water sports that I won't do in Singapore because its just so expensive! So I just played to my heart's content. Sigh...didn't manage to stand and get my balance on the ski thingy but the experience was awesome! I will be able to do it the next time I try it again. For sure. :)

Anyhow, I do hope there would be more of such outings/trips. Afterall, we only have 2 yrs, rather 1.5yrs left together and we should really make the best of our time together before we head out into schools, where we will find it harder to meet up and play games, chit chat and chill together. Enjoy the good times while it last peeps!

Wo(Man) of the hour

As I read the tribute to the late Dr Goh Keng Swee, I can't help but feel this profoundly deep admiration for this immensely brilliant forefather of Singapore. I was in awe of his contributions and how his influence is so pervasive in modern Singapore, yet so few actually heard and know of his legacy. The more I read on about what people remembered of him and his long list of accolades, the more proud I am to be a Singaporean. I never knew places of interests like our zoo, bird park and even Sentosa were his ideas! These are just a tiny fraction of his contributions. My gosh....it was just an incredible discovery and I was hooked to the Saturday's Special edition on 'Remember Dr Goh Keng Swee'. Strangely, my heart was pounding as I read and later reflected on this titan's life. Instinctively, a question came to mind i.e. will there be another titan like Dr Goh, Mr Lee KY, Mr Wee Kim Wee or the other members of the Old Guard in my generation? Will I get to see one em...

Count your blessings

I bought this set of keychain for my gramps. So cute right? They both love it to bits man! Haha..I'm proud of myself. A wise person said this to me this morning: "when you count your blessings, you will find many things to be thankful for...". True true. Been rather short fused these days and especially with family members. My grandma bore the brunt of it on monday when she suddenly appeared at NCC with my grandpa. I wasn't expecting her and so when I saw her, I was quite mean to ask why she was there when I actually know her intentions. I felt the way I felt because firstly I was already bothered about how to take care of grandpop when he sighs and worries about his discomfort and blah and then grandmop comes along and be herself (complain complain and ask same questions 1001 times etc). Double whammy! Anyway in a nutshell, the wise person told me early in the morning that grandmop upset that I brushed her aside that day, which I know was baddie bad bad :( ok i will...

Universal Studio

Thanks to YOG I got to enter Universal Studios @ Resorts World Sentosa ytd for free! Yes...rides were free and I had a $10 food & beverage voucher. Ok....sometimes I'm grateful that I'm a teacher because we are really one of the few professions who will enjoy such privileges :) Introducing the bevy of gorgeous ladies of Pei Hwa Sec : Miss Grace Tan, Miss Sophia Tan, Miss Shirley Tan and Miss Roslinda ! Don't you love the donkey ears???!!! WE WERE SERIOUSLY AMUSING OURSELVES IN THE SOUVENIR SHOP! Alright...this is the first but not my last time visiting U.S.S because I'll be going there again in Nov for my dept's learning journey. Don't ask me how we are going to think up PE lessons from visiting the theme park but miracles do happen! So after loosening the leash around the 51 kids whom we accompanied yesterday evening, the 6 female teachers (where are all the men??? tsk tsk...) went about to have a wild time of feasting on 20" pizzas, running after cart...
