Batam Getaway

What a trip!

9 of us set off for a 3days, 2night getaway to Batam and it turned out to be a blast. It was our first ever attempt at organizing a class getaway and even though 9 responded this time round, I still felt that this trip was a quality one. At the end of the day its not about the numbers but rather the quality of the company and friendship we get through it all.

We each spent about $300 for the trip but considering the fun we had, the food we indulged in and the adventures we splurged on, the cost was reasonably reasonable! Here's a breakdown of what we did during the trip:

1. Adventure package of:

- parasailing
- jet-skiiing
- banana boating

2. Seafood dinner (2 nights)

- black pepper and steamed crabs

- nestum prawn

- garlic fried chicken

3. Cable Skiing (8hours - abt $40)

4. KTVing (1hr)

Personally, it was a cool time. Just being able to go on a short getaway and do some of the water sports that I won't do in Singapore because its just so expensive! So I just played to my heart's content. Sigh...didn't manage to stand and get my balance on the ski thingy but the experience was awesome! I will be able to do it the next time I try it again. For sure. :)

Anyhow, I do hope there would be more of such outings/trips. Afterall, we only have 2 yrs, rather 1.5yrs left together and we should really make the best of our time together before we head out into schools, where we will find it harder to meet up and play games, chit chat and chill together. Enjoy the good times while it last peeps!

ACTION 100%

I finally can take a breather and bloggie! I just can't believe that my 2 weeks of the 10weeks practicum have just passed! But of course, its just ACTION this entire week since I started teaching. My gosh....if anyone desires for time to pass quickly JOIN TEACHING! Having not taught for the last 1.5years, getting back to the routine sure took some adjustment. Physically, I crashed by 10pm every night. Last night, 8.45pm! Record set. Just last week I was thinking its ultra boring to just shadow my CTs and not teach....I basically didn't know what I was asking for then. Mornings start with the mad rush of preparing for PE lessons and its just been taxing on my brain! After PE, I feel as though I've ran a marathon. I just slump on my chair and let the cool air from the air-con bring me back to life. When school ends, I just have little energy left to do my own trainings! OH ...btw I cycle to and fro school so....its zero level at the end of the day. Joani said this to me befor...

Breather

Back from a Sec 3 level camp in JB, Tanjung Piai. Thought I could have the week's off to clear my brain's cache and prepare my lesson plans but alas...I'm down for ODAC camp and sec 4s' oral exam mock practice! When can I have my breather???? Sometimes I wonder whether returning to a familiar place is good for me after all. I'm like on the 'Wanted' list for this committee, that committee, this event, that event etc. Not that I'm popular or high-in-demand, its just that I'm nicely available. I'm not usually mindful of taking on responsibilities. Its just that during these 10 weeks, I reckon is a crucial component of my NIE understudy and I am not wanting to settle for something less in my planning (although i really hate lesson plannings!). But I'm so stretched! I feel like screaming: " GIVE ME MY SPACE!" To say the least, I'm feeling stressed. Most unfortunately, I'm not given the option to say 'No'. Not until I get ...

New Year, New Life, New Beginning

The new maxim Joani and myself came up with for this new semester (at least). For her, its more on saving up and not spending that extravangantly. As for me, no specific resolution but more of wanting to be better than what I was last semester. A new year to refine those rough edges. Its just the 2nd day of the new term and somehow, it feels different. Quieter and so much more mellowed down. Maybe we have all gotten use to the flow of things in NIE and so the novelty of the first sem has died off. We seem more detached and engaged in our own stuff. Maybe when we slowly regain the momentum of things, normalcy will resume. After all, we had a break for almost 6weeks! Anyhow, lessons seem to be promising and am looking forward to them. Well talking about a new beginning for the new term, I had an unforgettable morning. Firstly, overslept and was 20mins late for first lesson with Mike McNeill! If Yixin didn't call me, I would have totally slept through the 2 hours lesson! Then another ...
